System Overview
Mobile Digital Video Recorders (MDVRs or DVRs) are vehicle-based systems that capture and store video from onboard cameras, giving you reliable access to footage from your fleet when it matters most. Whether your priority is load monitoring, reviewing work practices, or incident recording, we can tailor a system to suit your operational needs.
The primary function of an MDVR is to record video from one or more cameras while the vehicle is operating, although systems can also be configured to record in other ways depending on your requirements. Because customer needs vary, Chipatronic supplies customised, fully configured systems rather than fixed off-the-shelf packages, allowing you to select the components best suited to your vehicles and your business.
While Chipatronic MDVRs are primarily designed for commercial and industrial vehicles, they can be installed in any vehicle with a 12/24V DC power supply.
Our most common range is available in 4-channel and 8-channel models. These systems use solid-state drives (SSD) for primary storage, enabling extended onboard video retention before older files are automatically overwritten through loop recording.
System Options & Features
Each channel or camera can be configured individually, and we offer a wide range of camera options for common vehicle applications. Standard cameras are 1080P Full HD, producing 2MP images (1920 x 1080), with audio available on selected models where required.
Online video access is a common MDVR requirement, so our systems can be fitted with wireless connectivity, primarily via 4G mobile, with Wi-Fi also available where needed.
The key difference between the basic and wireless models is how footage is accessed: the basic model provides local access only, requiring the storage media to be removed and connected to a computer, while a 4G-enabled system provides remote access through an online platform.
Remote access is available through a browser or dedicated app via our cloud server platform using 4G mobile or Wi-Fi when connected to a WLAN.
System Requirements & Enquiries
Features include live video streaming, playback of recorded footage, vehicle location mapping, video file downloads, and fleet-wide visibility.
With our CMS cloud server solution, any internet-connected MDVR host can be monitored remotely from a smartphone or computer, giving authorised staff access to key information from any location with internet access.
