A dual caravan camera is made from 2 cameras in a common bracket, one has a standard lens for reversing and seeing what is just behind the van and the other has a narrow angle lens which is used for driving as the narrow lens is much better for seeing what is actually on the road behind and also allows you to see what is coming up.
As the narrow view camera is used most of the time, even at night, this camera does not have the Infra Red LEDs that the other camera has which improves the usability as the camera does cut over to the IR view when it is dark as this changes the image to black & white.
Dual cameras are commonly used with a mirror monitor such as the 7″ clip-on style shown below as this provides a setup that is perfectly natural with the rear vision being on the mirror where you have been looking your entire life while driving and the HD video is almost the same as looking in the mirror and in some cases may be better as the camera is right at the back so anything you can see is behind the camera.
The dual caravan camera is available in both black and white camera housings and can be setup to suit almost any monitor or display in a car.
